CEO Patrick Luciani started the company in 1974 under the name Luciani World Travel. It was renamed Travelonly in 2000. During the late-1990's, years after becoming a storefront travel agency, CEO Patrick Luciani began working through the regulatory issues with President, Gregory Luciani to develop the home-based travel model with both the Travel Industry of Ontario (TICO) and its counterpart in British Columbia. In 2000, Travelonlylaunched it's Home Based Travel Agency model and began to look for people interested in getting involved in this brand of travel selling.
In 2000, Travelonly began with the vision of transforming the way in which individuals enter and take part in the travel industry. This has created an accessible opportunity for people with or without previous travel experience to enter the industry.
When Travelonly's home-based program was first established, they were entering the forefront of significant industry upheaval. Deregulation in the airline industry and advances in communication technologies were causing significant changes in how travel was being sold to the consumer. The traditional business approach of the storefront travel agency was challenged at a fundamental level.
Today, with the increasing popularity of online booking and home-based businesses, the industry is once again experiencing dramatic change. In response, Travelonly has had to reaffirm its position in the travel industry by meeting the demand for new and personalized services by their home-based agents to their consumers.
Headquartered in Ontario, Canada, Travelonly provides a fully integrated home-based travel service which includes training, IT support, marketing and sales to their travel agents nationwide. Associates can earn international recognition as Travel Agents through the appointment with the International Air Transport Association IATA and Cruise Lines International Association CLIA. Travelonly has provincial license registration in Ontario under Travel Industry of Ontario (TICO), in British Columbia under Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA), and in Quebec under Office de la Protection du Consummateur (OPC).
